The Eat A Peach tour should have been a live showcase for considerable talents Duane and Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Butch Trucks, Jaimoe and Berry Oakley. Instead, the tour was a brave outing sandwiched between the motorcycle-related deaths of slide-guitarist Duane, in October, 1971 and bassist Oakely, in November, 1972. A smooth Southern rock offering whose original studio numbers included the jamming talents of Duane and Dickey Betts, the tour added pianist Chuck Leavell to the line-up and had the ultimate effect of propelling Betts from the late Allman's considerable artistic shadow.
