I wanted to work with traditional media on this piece. I felt that Kiss being such a great live band using a "live” medium such as diluted india ink (basically black water color) and then drawing with tech pens and brushes was a great fit. Using tools like brushes and pens were my guitars and drums.. My volume and distortion was swirling black washes and acrylic white blasts of paint. I hope it feels like KISS doing a live show or reminds you of your best memories of seeing them live. That was the intention and I wanted to do something that just floored KISS fans. As a kid I would draw KISS and also design my own stage sets for the band so doing this piece now (when I can actually draw a lot better) is a dream come true. :) I listened to KISS the entire time I worked on this drawing trying to infuse the energy of music into the final image. thanks for checking it out!
