The 1975 Marvel Convention wasn't really a convention it was more like a family reunion. All of the flagship Marvel characters were there; they had potato sack races apple bobbing macaroni pictures a soap box derby one of those cool moon-bounce pits a bake sale a blood drive and a sacrifice of Nicholas Cage in a giant wicker man. Wait I'm not entirely sure about that last part. I think that was a really bad movie I once saw but it could have happened..it could have happened. The picture on this 100% cotton 30 single(mega soft) t-shirt was really hard to take. You know how impossible it is to get Iron Man the Hulk the Human Torch Wolverine the Thing Captain America Spiderman and Thor to get close and say cheese? I would not envy the photographer unless it was Nightcrawler. That guy could make a killing in the paparazzi business.

Made from 100% Cotton this black t-shirt features an image taken straight from the hit comic book mini-series The Killing Joke expertly drafted by uber-talented artist Brian Bolland! Written by Comic Book luminary Alan Moore the Killing Joke gave us an origin of the Joker that forced one to actually care about a humble struggling comedian and the circumstances that carved his route towards becoming the painted monster we all know and...fear. Well we cared until he shot Babs in the spine and kidnapped Commissioner Gordon forcing him to view photographs of the intimate moments Joker and Barbara Gordon... shared together. This Joker t-shirt is right off of Batman #37 from 1945. This is one of the earlier versions of the Joker created by Bill Finger the co-creator of Batman and Bob Kane. Bill showed Bob a picture of actor Conrad Veidt in make up from the silent film The Man Who Laughs (1928). Then after the Joker was modeled on this photograph. Set in England 1690 featuring Gwynplaine (Conrad Veidt) who is the son of an English nobleman who has offended King James II. The King sentences Gwynplaine's father to death via an iron maiden which is basically a metal upright coffin (made in the 18th century) with spikes on it to torture people. The benevolent monarch also has a surgeon disfigure Gwynplaine's face into a permanent grin condemns him to laugh forever at his fool of a father. The Man Who Laughs is known for the grim Carnival freak-like grin that Gwynplaine is forced to wear as an adult and has been credited to igniting the horror genre.
